Irish artists are set to pay homage to the iconic American band…

It’s been 20 years since Weezer released their first album ‘Weezer’ or it’s better known ‘The Blue Album’. JOE remembers rocking out to it in our bedroom back in the day and it gave us the impression that we were cool when we really weren’t cool at all. The power of music, eh.

‘The Blue Album’ was a hugely influential piece of work and it catapulted the band to worldwide fame and success. The record was full of brilliant singles like ‘Say it ain’t so’, ‘Surf Wax America’, ‘My name is Jonas’ and our personal favourite ‘Buddy Holly’…

We love the band and have followed them ever since and obviously loads of Irish people have done the same, so the people at the Róisín Dubh in Galway have organised something really cool for all us Weezer fans.

They’re hosting a Weezer Tribute Night on September 19 where they’re going to get Irish artists to perform songs from Weezer’s back-catalog, already confirmed are Windings, Dott and Oh Boland. It sounds like it’s going to be a cool night.

Tickets are available at www.roisindubh.net, the Ticket Desk at OMG Zhivago, Shop Street, and The Róisín Dubh.
