Good news for those heading to the Electric Picnic as daycent weather is expected all weekend

A lot of people have gone to great lengths to ensure their presence at the Electric Picnic this weekend and they’ll be glad to know that they can probably leave the wet gear at home.

After the line-up itself, the accommodation arrangements and sorting food and beer supplies, dealing with the weather is next on the checklist for the 30,000 or so festival-goers expected to descend on Stradbally this weekend and they’ll be glad to know that there shouldn’t be a whole lot to worry about.

According to met.ie, it is expected to stay dry throughout the country today with mild temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees Celcius and if there is to be rain, it is likely to affect areas in the north and west of the country.

It’s a similar story throughout the weekend with temperatures likely to drop to around 14-18 degrees on Saturday before rising to 16-20 degrees on Sunday and once again, lovely Laois is likely to escape any showers with the north and west again taking the hit. How nice of them.

So while it’s not exactly set in stone, it’s probably safe to assume that you can leave the ponchos and the waterproofs at home this weekend and instead just sit back, sorry, go crazy and enjoy the proceedings while Arctic Monkeys, Fatboy Slim, My Bloody Valentine and the rest serve up a musical feast on a weekend that is always one of the highlights of the Irish music calendar.
