Great news for Incubus fans because they’ve announced two Irish dates

Wish You Were Here? Well, they finally are!

For people of a certain age – yep, that’s me – Incubus were one of the defining bands of their formative teenage years. Unlike other rap-metal acts that couldn’t get past the era of TRL and Cribs, Incubus were the rarity.  Brandon Boyd and co. attained commercial success, reaching multi-platinum sales, as well as releasing several successful albums and tracks.

Truth be told, I’ll happily stand by the fact that Morning View was one of my defining albums because while it’s not the best piece of work you’ll ever here, there’s something incredibly uplifting and optimistic about those 13 tracks. It just captures a moment in time.

Aside from this, Incubus’ run of albums from 1995 – 2004 produced some great albums, LPs and tracks like Noweher Fast, 11am, Clean, Make Yourself, Megalomaniac, Stellar, Nice to Know You and Warning to name but a few.

While Drive and Wish You Were Here became zeitgeist tracks – seriously, how many times did MTV use them for promos? –  their back catalogue of songs is far more impressive.

After all, everyone needs a musical outlet to vent that teenage frustration.

To many people, Incubus resonated because their style just incorporated everything under the sun like alternative metal, alternative rock, heavy metal, electro, funk,  jazz,  hip hop, nu metal, pop,  rap metal, techno, thrash metal, post-grunge and trip-hop – have we run out of genres yet?

Anyways, the band seldom play dates in Ireland which is why fans will definitely be flocking to these two gigs:

Sept 10th: Ulster Hall, Belfast

Sept 11th: Bord Gáis Energy Theatre

Tickets go on sale Friday 27 April at 9am via Ticketmaster. Belfast costs £42 including booking fee while Dublin runs at €55.65 including booking fee.

Nice to Know You, goodbye.
