Ed Sheeran announced on Saturday afternoon that he is now engaged to his long-term girlfriend Cherry Seaborn.
The singer told the world his news via his Instagram account, with the caption: “Got myself a fiancé just before new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx”

The couple met in school, but only began dating in 2015. The pair travelled round the world together during Sheeran’s hiatus from social media, when he ditched technology for a year and took a sabbatical year during which he travelled the world.
Cherry is a Hockey player, and won Bronze with the England U-21 side at the European Championships in 2012.
Speaking to Zane Lowe, Ed Sheeran said that “This has been the first time I’ve ever actually had the time to fall in love properly.”
In the same interview, the singer also revealed that he is ready to be a dad: “I wanted to be a dad, like, last year. I’m ready, let’s go – tour bus babies, little fat, chubby babies that just walk around.”
Thankfully that won’t mean the an end to the music from the sounds of things.
Although, hopefully this doesn’t mean Ed runs out of things to write songs about…
It comes as the Shape of You singer is set to play a number of shows in Galway, Belfast, Cork and Dublin later this year.
Sheeran will begin a series of dates with two shows in Cork’s Páirc Uí Chaoimhon 4 and 5 May 2018.
He will then move on to Belfast on 9 May with a show at the Boucher Playing Fields.
Pearse Stadium in Galway will play host to two shows on 12 and 13 May, before Sheeran returns to Dublin for two massive dates at the Phoenix Park on 16 and 18 May.
