Hip-hop fans! Jot this down if you’re heading to Stradbally next weekend.

Pioneers of the Irish hip-hop scene Scary Éire have announced that they are reuniting for a special performance at Electric Picnic this weekend.

The band, made up of DJ Mek, Dada Sloosh, Mr Browne and RiRa, opened up for acts like Madness, U2 and The Beastie Boys way back in the day, and were also the first Irish rap act to be signed to a major label.

Scary Éire reunited for the first time in years this past Paddy’s day for a sold out show, and are doing so again at Ireland’s biggest festival.

With Irish hip-hop having a bit of a ‘moment’ in 2019, it might be nice to get a glimpse into where it all started.

So if you’re feeling nostalgic, and in the mood for some good old fashioned Irish rap, head along to the iconic Salty Dog stage on Friday at 1am.

And if you’re not feeling that, you’ve still got acts like Billie Eilish, Hozier, The Strokes and The 1975 to look forward to.

You can see the full stage times for Electric Picnic 2019 here.
