
Iconic singer Aretha Franklin dead at the age of 76
Aretha Franklin, a singer affectionately known as The Queen of Soul, has died at the age of 76.
It had been reported earlier in the week that Franklin was seriously ill, and it was confirmed on Thursday that she had passed away. The specific cause of death has not yet been reported.

She died in the city of Detroit where she spent most of her life, surrounded by family. Earlier in the week, the city held a vigil for the beloved songstress, which was attended by 40,000 people. Funeral arrangements have not been made public.
According to local news outlet Fox 2 Detroit, Franklin had been living with illness since 2010.
Franklin is famous for several huge hits — including 'Respect,' 'Natural Woman' and 'I Say A Little Prayer For You.'
