The Vibes from Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim have certainly nailed the sentiment with their Christmas single and now a Grammy-winning LA-based music producer has given them his backing.
Greg Wells, who won a Grammy for his work on The Greatest Showman soundtrack and has produced Elton John, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Adele, and Celine Dion, got in touch with the band after they sent him a demo of the song earlier this month.
Wells liked the song so much he asked the band if he could produce it and mix it for them, all free of charge.
Stunned at even getting a response, the band agreed and just one week later they've released the song with an accompanying music video.
Lead singer, Leo Logan, told JOE that he had chanced his arm by sending the song to Wells' email address, which he had found online, having had no prior contact with the hit song producer.
"Once I had the song written, I just said I'd fire it onto him, you never know. "He mailed me back that night to say he wanted to work on it, and at 3am in the morning I had a WhatsApp video from him of him and his wife singing the song in their kitchen. I couldn't believe it!"
Logan explained that the song, which is raising funds for The Mater Foundation, has been receiving an emotional response from anyone who has heard it.
"I wrote the song about how different Christmas will be this year for so many families due to both friends and family passing away from Covid-19, but also because of the people and their families who won't get to spend Christmas together this year due to distance.
"We know we have missed all normal deadlines for releasing a Christmas song, but we felt something special seemed to be happening with this song.
"It has received such emotional responses from anyone who has heard it."
The Vibes will release a new album in 2021 and plans are also afoot for more collaborations with Wells.
