JOE’s go-to gigs in Ireland over the Christmas

It may be Christmas time, but the live music gigs aren’t stopping.

Where: Vicar Street, Dublin

It’s fast becoming a real Christmas tradition, but Damien Dempsey gigs in Vicar St at Christmas are the stuff of legend. The big Donaghmede man has a huge devout following and they will back out the venue for this.

Who: The Sugarhill Gang
Date: 23 December
Where: Button Factory, Dublin

The band credited with the first ever Top 40 hit in the Billboard 100 for a rap song, with their single Rapper’s Delight way back in 1979. The men from New Jersey are considered hip-hop royalty and this gig in the Button Factory promises to be an absolute belter.

Date: 27 December
Where: Whelan’s, Dublin

Indie legends Turn are back at their old stomping ground for a night of reminisence and bloody great music. It’ll be a gig full of hits from their three successful albums from the late 90s and early noughties.

Who: The Rubberbandits
Date: 27 December
Where: Dolan’s Warehouse, Limerick

The plastic bag wearing duo return to their home city for a Christmas special. Anyone who has ever been to one of their gigs will testify that it is an incredible experience.

Expect the incredibleness to be ramped up several notches playing in front of their home crowd.

Where: INEC, Killarney

The Coronas come to the Kingdom, Killarney to be precise for a gig at the INEC. These lads never fail to put on a great show and this will be no different.
