JOE’s Song Of The Day #564: Ciaran Lavery – ‘To Chicago’
Ciaran Lavery releases new song ahead of a third album release.
Ciaran Lavery is a man from the village of Aghagallon, which is twenty miles south of Belfast. He has enjoyed plenty of success with his two previous album releases.
The new album will be titled 'Sweet Decay'. It follows his sophomore album 'Let Bad In' and debut album 'Not Nearly Dark'. 'Nearly Dark' was the album which featured ‘Shame,’ a track that now has nearly 40 million Spotify streams.
Fans can get the new album on April 13 and this track will be on it. The video for ‘To Chicago’ was directed by Kris Platt. Kris has previously directed the videos for Ciaran’s singles ‘Everything Is Made To Last’ and ‘Wells Tower,’.

Speaking about the video, Ciaran said “What was special about this video was that it was all shot in one entire take without edits or any of that post-production magic. This was something we all felt strongly about so it not only flowed but there was a sense of realism about it that could not be achieved from many angles or cuts.”
"The creative idea was that we were making a music video & letting the viewer in on this. In essence, it is a video within a video. The purpose of the characters is to represent the very real concept that on an average day you are likely to unknowingly walk into, or through so many complete stranger’s lives.”
Ciaran will be embarking on an Irish and British tour when the album is released. The Irish dates and venues are April 13, Empire Music Hall - Belfast, April 18, Set Theatre – Kilkenny, April 19, Whelans – Dublin, April 20, Monroe’s – Galway.
