JOE’s Song Of The Day #589: Ferals – ‘Brendan Rodgers’

Eric Lalor

Ferals

Ferals release their debut single and it’s great.

Four friends making rock music in their attic sounds like the premise for a pretty good indie film, but in Belfast, it is where Shane, Danzilla, Jack and Sam formed rock band Ferals. Finding space in a tiny attic to play together every week, they soon realised they would be a pretty decent band and began writing songs.

Ferals

Fast forward to 2018 and they are crashing into the scene with their debut single ‘Brendan Rodgers.’ Ferals first offering grows from rhythmic guitar and ethereal vocals to big epic sounds and overlapping melodies that fans of Biffy Clyro and Queens of the Stone Age will identify with.

It’s a slick mix of heartfelt atmosphere and driving energy. An exciting addition to the Irish rock scene that has
brought us ASIWYFA, Otherkin and TOUTS, which are not only similar in sound but a part of the reason why
Ferals formed. “Watching all our favourite local bands take themselves to heights we didn’t know were reachable
in this country has totally inspired us, and gave us a beacon of hope that we could be successful.”

The heart behind it all is clear to see, close friends making music about their anger towards football managers, inspired by the bands around them to take it further.

Ferals are here and we think they’ll be here for a good while yet. Keep an eye on their Facebook page right here for developments.
