JOE’s Song Of The Day #613: LARKS – ‘Holiday’

Eric Lalor

LARKS has a voice from heaven.

LARKS is the brain-child of singer-songwriter Fiona O’Kane. Fans of Bat For Lashes and Lykke Li will be alerted to her alt-pop soundings. Boasting a luscious voice and an ear for melody this is a project which feels like it’s here to stay.

LARKS

She has taken her personal diary and tied it together with guileless vocals, unnerving melodies and dreamy guitar lines to create a brand of dark pop that is captivating and not far from the aforementioned legends of alternative songwriting.

As a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Fiona has been cutting her teeth writing for kids TV shows, fronting indie band Runaway Go and performing covers online (including a cover of ‘I Can’t Help Myself’ which appeared in a Durex advert) and all this experience has fuelled a desire to create a unique sound as alter ego LARKS.

The future looks bright already and you can keep track on her career by following her Facebook page right here.
