JOE’s Song Of The Day #626: The Whileaways – ‘Roll Down Your Window’

Eric Lalor

The Whileaways

The Whileaways are back with a new song and album.

The Whileaways release the first single from their upcoming third album ‘From What We’re Made’ which is due for release in the next few days.

The band consists of Noelie McDonnell (vocals, guitar), Noriana Kennedy (vocals, banjo) and Nicola Joyce (vocals, baritone ukulele). The three are accomplished folk musicians in their own right with more than a dozen recordings to their collective credit.

The Whileaways

They’ve been together since 2012 and both previous albums were critically acclaimed. Their three distinct voices combine to weave a tight tapestry of captivating harmonies. They prefer minimal instrumentation on their recordings, allowing their distinctive vocals to be the focus of their music.

It’s a summery track which will have you toe-tapping away in no time. The vocals and harmonies are like a well-oiled machine and it’s clear that this is a band very much in tune with each other. ‘Roll down the window, let the wind at your face..’ is the perfect order on a sunny day whilst listening to this track.

The band have a string of live dates coming up on the back of the release of the new album. You can find out all about them by visiting their Facebook page right here.
