JOE’s Song Of The Day #633: Anna’s Anchor ‘Precautionary’

Eric Lalor

Anna's Anchor

Anna’s Anchor from Limerick look promising.

Anna’s Anchor is the moniker chosen by Limerick musician Marty Ryan. This is the second song from the soon to be released new album ‘Everybody’s Welcome’.

Anna's Anchor

With a background studying Environmental Science at University, alongside his musical career Ryan has spent the last few years working as an Environmental Consultant. This is something which has had a profound impact on the way he sees the world and how he approaches making music, particularly looking at themes of the kind of world we may (or may not) be leaving for our children.

Another accomplished dose of emotive punk-tinged songwriting, the track gives a glimpse of the heavier side of the forthcoming record, which musically plumbs new depths for Anna’s Anchor. Ryan tells us “It’s quite a riff-heavy tune in comparison to most Anna’s Anchor material, but I was listening to Reuben’s first album a lot whilst I was writing and that rubbed off on me. Especially on this track. It was a really fun one to record and I wanted the outro to literally sound like the world is ending, because I guess it pretty much is. So, we stacked 8 guitar tracks on top of each other with a load of different distortion pedals and it was a whole pile of fun!”

To coincide with the release of the new album, Anna’s Anchor will be doing some Irish dates on a European tour. You can get more details by checking out their Facebook page right here.
