Formed in 2015, Velvet Alibi is the result of a musical collaboration between Anna Nolan on vocals and Rohan Armstrong on bass. The band is based in Derry, where the duo met during their music degree. They play in various sizes from a five-piece to a 13-piece and often feature some of Northern Ireland’s best up and coming musicians, including young jazz guitarist Joseph Leighton and keyboard maestro Neil Burns, AKA Comrade Hat.
The band are hot off the heels of their sell-out double-bill with African Artist Moh! Kouyate at the Earagail Arts Festival, Donegal, where they were joined by Belfast-born drummer Darren Beckett, who has performed with both Brandon Flowers and Lauryn Hill.
