JOE’s Song Of The Day #700: Faraway Martin ‘Intoxicated’

Eric Lalor

Faraway Martin

Faraway Martin never wants to drink again and we can all relate.

Faraway Martin is a singer/songwriter from Mayo who’s spent the past three years travelling the world.

His sound, heavily influenced by his Irish roots, with clear hints of Damien Rice and Glen Hansard, has taken a more in-your-face folk-pop direction.

The season of silliness is upon us and, of course, our resolve when it comes to our consumpion of alcohol will be tested to the max, as is addressed in ‘Intoxicated’.

This is a very catchy tune with lyrics we can all identify with, especially the immortal line, ‘I’m never drinking again’.

A line which will be repeated ad nauseam over the Christmas period by many.

A slow burner with a rousing house party feel, ‘Intoxicated’ is a relatable, catchy tune, lamenting alcohol-fuelled days and nights, and the inevitable fear felt the morning after the night before. Never one to shy away from real life issues, Faraway Martin’s upcoming tracks are honest tales of love, emotional turmoil and coming of age.

Faraway Martin will be touring around Ireland this month and you can get more details via his Facebook page right here.
