JOE’s Song Of The Day #716 – The Cranberries ‘All Over Now’

Eric Lalor

The Cranberries zombie

The Cranberries release the first single from their final album.

It’s seldom you listen to a new record and you get a lump in your throat, an overwhelming sense of loss and sadness. The Cranberries release the very first single from their last ever album on the anniversary of the untimely death of the magical Dolores O’Riordan.

It’s a throwback to the early Cranberries where they took on the world and won with their first two albums, Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We? and  the follow-up No Need to Argue.

Cranberries

Swirling guitars and that unmistakable voice will simultaneously have you buzzing with nostalgia, yet saddened at the realisation that this is the very last record.

While it is tinged with sadness following Dolores’ unexpected death on January 15th 2018, ‘In The End’ is not a valediction. It is a celebration, one that stands as a powerful testimony to the life and creative work of Dolores and her brothers in music Noel, Mike and Fergal.
