JOE’s Song Of The Day #745 – October Fires ‘Screaming Red’

Eric Lalor

October Fires

The second track from October Fires’ debut EP.

October Fires are a four-piece group, consisting of Carol Somers on piano, vocals and percussion, Lisa Connolly on piano, vocals and percussion, Eoghan O’Neill on bass and Eric Somers on guitar.

‘Screaming Red’ is their latest single and the second single off their debut EP, Everybody Knows.

Their style is difficult to pin down, but the band describe their music as haunting, harmonic, dark pop. They take influences from choral music, classical, pop, soul, funk, folk, rock and fuse them together to create their unique sound.

October Fires

The band have been likened to a Radiohead meets Tori Amos by Hot Press Magazine, a blend of Sneaker Pimps and Portishead by REMY and Lisa Hannigan-esque by Nialler 9.

There is no doubting that they possess a unique sound and it’ll be interesting to see how the sound develops in the future.
