JOE’s Song Of The Day #768 – The Man Whom ‘Nothing Gained’

Eric Lalor

The Man Whom

The Man Whom returns after a lengthy hiatus.

The Man Whom is Ian Doyle and he is a singer songwriter, producer/composer and multi-instrumentalist from Wexford. This is his first single release since his debut album back in 2011.

This is a serious piece of work from The Man Whom. It’s the first single released from his forthcoming new album which is called The Dancer From The Dance.

The beautiful orchestral arrangements and Ian Doyle’s yearning vocal infliction serves only to whet the appetite for his sophomore album release.

The Man Whom

‘Nothing Gained’ is a snapshot into the mind of the songwriter struggling with the devastating effects of recession. Ian says I wrote Nothing Gained in the middle of the last recession in Ireland when its full effects had become apparent. Working in the construction sector up to that point the recession hit hard. Luckily for me and my family, we managed to struggle through.”

Following a summer of festival appearances and a couple of years touring Ireland, the UK and Europe, Doyle pulled back from the live music scene in favour of the studio where he spent a four year period writing and recording his second album.
