JOE’s Song Of The Day #785 – Aimée ‘Don’t Bother’

Eric Lalor

Aimée

Aimée is definitely one to watch.

There’s a lot of good electronic pop music coming out of the Irish music scene recently and Aimée Fitzpatrick is another name to join the ever growing list of acts to look out for.

This is her debut single and if you think her vocal sounds familiar, you might be aware of another big track she featured on last year. She co-wrote and featured on a single with producer and DJ, Mark McCabe. ‘Over Me’ was a Top 30 hit in Ireland and has over one million combined streams.

Aimée

Aimée sounds great, looks great and can sing and dance. This lady has it all and we’re sure we’ll be hearing more about her in the coming months and years.

Inspired musically by ’90s icons such as Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears, Aimée grew up in Dublin listening, diligently, to every vocal run, every empowering lyric and pure pop melody that Aguilera, Spears and their peers were releasing.

This is a breakup song and yet is devoid of the vibe you would get from such a narrative.

Aimée decided that the narrative of the victim was over-used in break-up songs, as was anger. She crafted a song that was authentic to her experience and allowed those powerhouse vocals to take centre stage.
