JOE’s Song Of The Day #788 – whenyoung ‘Future’

Eric Lalor

whenyoung

Whenyoung release brand new single from forthcoming debut album.

Whenyoung are Aoife Power (Vocals/Bass), Niall Burns (Guitar) and Andrew Flood (Drums) who originate from Limerick but are currently based in London.

First meeting as teenagers, sneaking into the only indie bar of Limerick, they bonded over cheap vodka and The Velvet Underground. Soon after, Niall moved to London, with Andrew and Aoife quickly following, and here they began writing songs together as whenyoung.

Since then, whenyoung have gone from strength to strength, gaining the support of BBC Radio 1 Introducing, gracing stages at festivals everywhere from the Great Escape in Brighton to Reeperbahn in Germany and touring up and down the UK and Ireland.

They were guests at Shane McGowen’s 60th birthday, supported Nick Cave in Dublin and were invited to play at the Barbican Centre in London as part of a celebration of Ireland’s rich cultural legacy.

They are a band clearly on the up and this debut album release is set to elevate them into the consciousness of many. The new single is a song which tells the story of a close friend who sadly died by suicide, while also striving to find a message of hope in the darkness.
