A slickly-produced, uplifting pop composition intertwined with angst-ridden lyrics is the formula for her latest song, 'We Are Not Alright' and it works.
It's a song about the new normal. On writing this track, she speaks about having an out-of-body experience while on one of the many multitudes of FaceTime calls we've had during this time.
In the middle of another mundane, daily effort to feel connected, she was hit with the stark new reality that we really are not alright and the feeling of true solidarity, that we are all in this together and getting ready to come out of it, stronger as one and ready to seize those good times once again, has not quite arrived.
