JOE’s Song Of The Day #578: Sean OB – ‘Teacher’

Eric Lalor

Sean OB

Sean OB is a new voice and a new energy.

Born and raised in Tallaght in Dublin, Sean OB first picked up a guitar at the age of 12. Once the rigid structures of school were thrown aside Sean set about establishing himself in the Irish music scene. Firstly as leader of spirited trio Trap Door, followed by two years on guitar with Raglans.

Sean OB

This is his debut single as a solo artist and it’s a song full of vigour and heart. He’s now got the backing of his own explosive band and I think we’ll be seeing and hearing a lot more of him in the future.

Displaying remarkable skills as a songwriter and lyricist, Sean writes with a hard-hitting honesty. “You’re not the dream pool. I’m not your reject.” He counts stand-up comedians like Doug Stanhope and Bill Hicks as influences that are just as important as the likes of Hunter S. Thompson and John Lennon.

This new single is a snappy, brash introduction to this explosive new artist. I’m looking forward to hearing more from this chap in the future.  Described as ‘an anti-authority anthem’, ‘Teacher’ was recorded with acclaimed producer Rob Kirwan who has worked with Hozier, PJ Harvey and The Horrors amongst others.

Sean OB and his band will be doing a string of live dates across Ireland and the UK soon. You can keep posted via his Facebook page right here.
