JOE’s Song Of The Day #584: Le Galaxie – ‘Day Of The Child’

Eric Lalor

Le Galaxie

Le Galaxie back with yet another stomper.

We are unashamedly big fans of Le Galaxie in these parts. One of the best live acts around, their shows are the stuff of legend. They’ve released their third album, ‘Pleasure’ and this is the first track from it.

They’ve boosted their ranks with the permanent addition of longtime collaborator May Kay of Fight Like Apes fame and it has just elevated the band to another level. The affecting, almost master and servant-like vocal exchange between Michael Pope and May Kay, demonstrates a self-confidence and maturity of a band in control.

Le Galaxie

Le Galaxie have spent the past seven years earning their title as Ireland’s best live act, honing their craft across clubs and venues, bars and fields, tents and countries, cities and towns, parties and raves. And in doing so, the band has had a multiplier effect, going from a cult following to a force. An unstoppable force.

The new album was recorded in their own studio with ultra producer Blende. It points to Le Galaxie’s evolution from purveyors of dance floor bangers to creators of well-crafted songs. Having brought festivals across Europe, like Lovebox, Benicassim, The Great Escape, Transmusicales and Electric Picnic to their feet and dancing, it is time to bring the Le Galaxie party to album.

Le Galaxie have always been a great band, but now bolstered by the considerable vocal talents of May Kay, they look like an unstoppable force. Strap in folks and enjoy this trip. Because it is a trip. Countdown is progressing.
