JOE’s Song Of The Day #563: VINCI – ‘We Are Ghosts’

Eric Lalor

VINCI

VINCI are back with a banger.

VINCI derives from the Latin “vincere” meaning: to defeat, to beat, and to overcome. So, it’s kind of fitting that this, their brand new track, is about the quiet struggle of anxiety and depression and how that battle can impact on a relationship.

The Dublin band have come to the attention of the music industry with their two previous singles, ‘Lions’ and ‘Liars’. Showing a maturity in both their songwriting and sound, they’re a band who seem destined for bigger things.

VINCI

It hasn’t been plain sailing at all for the band. Each member of the group has overcome adversity and unwittingly saved each other from individual struggles, which they would only discover later.

From jobs lost to the recession, to being cut out of a record deal by childhood friends, to challenges with depression and anxiety. Just a couple of years ago, each member of VINCI found themselves turning their back on music and giving up on the dream of following in the footsteps of great Irish bands that have come before them.

The track was produced by Philip Magee who has also produced The Script, Kodaline and The Academic amongst others. Keep up to date with VINCI via their Facebook page right here.
