Stop everything, Johnny Logan is going to perform at Electric Picnic

Alan Loughnane

This is big…

When you ask yourself what you want from a festival, a few things will be on all lists.

  • Good music
  • Good vibes
  • Good weather
  • Johnny Logan performing

Yes, Johnny Logan will be performing at Electric Picnic after Electric Ireland announced its third, and final, headline act for its Throwback Stage.

The man known as Mr Eurovision will be performing a “slow set”, something that was once a staple of dances, nightclubs and discos around the country.

As the night drew to a close, the pace would slow and, mostly, slow, romantic music would be played to set people in the right mood to hit it off with one another.

Logan will be joining Irish girl band B*witched and 90’soul pop icon Heather Small: The Voice of M People as part of the Electric Ireland Throwback Stage line up.

He sounds very excited about the prospect of playing at EP.

Speaking of the announcement, Logan said: “After years and years of gigging very successfully around Europe, millions of record sales, performing for heads of state from The Queen of England to Pope John Paul at The Vatican – I‘ve finally been asked to play on the Electric Ireland’s Throwback Stage at this year’s Electric Picnic!

“I am more than delighted and really looking forward to it. The slow set is the perfect way to set the mood before I take to the stage. So many people share their memories of dancing to some of my songs, during the ‘slow set’ back in the day. I really hope people get into the spirit, and enjoy the ‘slow set’, a novel thing in the middle of a festival I’m sure!”

As long as he sings, ‘Hold Me Now’, we’ll be happy enough.
