“I’m like marmite me, you either f*cking love it or hate it.”

Whether you adore him or absolutely loathe him, one thing is for certain, there is no getting away from Liam Gallagher.

His return to the music scene couldn’t have come at a better time as his home city of Manchester was hit with a terrorist attack at an Ariana Grande concert and as a result, the people of the city have been using Oasis songs, Don’t Look Back in Anger and Live Forever as unofficial anthems.

His solo single Wall of Glass from his upcoming album As You Were has got massive airplay both in the UK and Ireland and before his sold-out Irish date at The Olympia, he sat down with Ian Dempsey of Today FM for a little chat.

Liam admitted that his songwriting wasn’t strong enough to solely write an album on his own and with the help of a co-writer, Gregg Kursty, he has an army of songs in his account.

Some of the song titles off the new album are – Greedy Soul, Bold, All My People All Mankind and Universal Gleam. “I’m prepared for people not to like it and that’s fine but I’m also prepared for people to lose their sh*t over it” Liam said.

Presenter Ian Dempsey had to throw in many a bleep into the pre-recorded interview on Saturday morning but would it be really as entertaining if he was any different? Liam certainly doesn’t think so.

“It’s all downhill after this man, everyone else you interview will be bland as f*ck.”

It feels as if no interview with Liam or Noel Gallagher is complete without asking about an Oasis reunion and although Liam says that he “loves our kid” he doesn’t think it will happen, “‘Noel goes on as if I’ve stabbed his cat.”

Liam is quite happy doing his own solo thing but admitted he would be throwing in some band classics such as Rock ‘n’ Roll Star, Morning Glory and Live Forever at his concerts.

Have you ever wondered what song Liam likes to sing after a few cold ones? Well, he admitted that himself and his partner Debbie belt out Crazy World by Aslan after a night out.

His love of all things Irish doesn’t stop there and confessed his love of Irish audiences and his fondness for Guinness, adding that when he plays here “it feels like playing to home.”

However, he wasn’t in the mood for a drink just yet and had to decline Today FM’s worker, Shauna, and her offer of a quick pint, “it’ll have to be later because once I start, I do not stop.”
