Is it 2001 again?

Louis Walsh has announced that he is holding auditions for a new boyband and girlband at Vicar Street in Dublin in late November.

However, they will not be open auditions due to Covid guidelines and instead applicants are asked to apply by submitting a clip of themselves performing. This can be a link to a YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, or just filmed on a phone.

Unfortunately for anyone who wants to make the leap into the boyband or girlband, there are some conditions in place.

Well, one condition really. You have to be aged between 16 and 21 years of age.

More details can be found on Louis Walsh’s website here, along with the tantalising* photo of him asking, “Do you want to be a popstar?”

“Because of Covid guidelines and indeed the talent that we all see and hear every day online, I am asking people to go onto the site and send me a sample of them performing – or a link to their social account where we can find them,” Walsh said.

“We will then call back finalists for a live audition. There is so much great talent here in Ireland and I’m really looking forward to the next few weeks.”

Entries close on 12 November and if you’re required for the follow-up audition, you will hear back from by 15 November.

* It is not, in fact, tantalising
