JOE's Song Of The Day #846 - Maija Sofia 'The Glitter'
One for an especially rainy day, this.
Which is handy, as it's grim out there right about now.
As Dublin-based artist Maija Sofia gets ready to unveil debut album Bath Time upon the world next month, latest single 'The Glitter' offers a sensitive, strangely inviting gloomy preview.
'The Glitter' is inspired by the experience of reading Good Morning, Midnight by Jean Rhys, a novel about a lonely, self-destructive and impulsive woman that Sofia describes as "heavily depressing but brilliant".
Rhys' influence on 'The Glitter' is clear, particularly on Sofia's past as she digs deep into recesses that may or may not provide healthy closure.
"It's about having a tendency to romanticise and the desperate feeling of realising you've fallen out of love but are still trying to cling to something," she notes.
Bath Time arrives on Friday 22 November. Get the latest taste below.
