Meatloaf has collapsed on stage during concert in Canada

Alan Loughnane

The singer collapsed on stage on Thursday night.

Legendary rock star Meat Loaf was brought to hospital last night after he collapsed on stage at a show in Edmonton, Canada last night.

Video footage shows Meat Loaf, born Michael Lee Aday, falling to the floor during a performance of his song I’d Do Anything For Love.

He appears to lose consciousness in the video, and is attended to by bandmates and security.

Edmonton Police confirmed to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation that they’d been called to respond to a medical emergency at the venue.

Details on his condition are not available as yet.

Reports from local and social media claim that the auditorium was cleared of people shortly after.

The uploader of the video which is being shared online, DJ Rebellion, commented underneath the video saying: “The place is being evacuated. Ambulance here…very sad.”

There appeared to be some initial confusion following the singers collapse, with many initially believing it was a dramatic part of his act.

Meat Loaf had cancelled gigs earlier in the week due to an illness.
