The National will be playing in Limerick, Cork, and Belfast in 2020

The National

Hands down, one of the best live bands around.

The National have been confirmed as the first act on the 2020 line-up for the Live at the Docklands series in Limerick.

It has been announced that Matt Berninger and co. will play Live at the Docklands in Limerick on Sunday, 7 June, 2020.

That’s not all though because the band will also take to the stage for Live at Botanic Gardens on Belfast on 6 June 2020, before performing two days later at Live at the Marquee in Cork on 8 June.

The Live at the Docklands series was introduced earlier this year, giving Dolans the largest capacity venue it has brought to Limerick city to date. The 2019 series was hosted on the waterfront in Limerick city in a specially-delivered marquee performance space.

The band last played Ireland at this year’s All Together Now Festival in Waterford but with Dolans preparing to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their opening in Limerick, they’ve got one hell of a headliner to kick off the celebrations.

Yet again, Dolans Presents will make use of part of Limerick Docks located just off Atlas Avenue as a location for the upcoming gigs.

The good news doesn’t stop here though because it’s expected that more acts for Live at the Docklands 2020 will be announced soon.

Speaking at the festival’s announcement, promoter Neil Dolan said: “Fresh from headlining the All Together Now Festival we are delighted to announce a significant stadium headline act for Limerick’s Live at the Docklands series 2020. Securing The National for Limerick is a major coup for us and we are looking forward to playing host to what is truly a phenomenal live act”.

For those that aren’t familiar with The National, a few things.

To begin with, get familiar with them because they’re fantastic.

Secondly, they’ve firmly established themselves as mainstays of arenas and festivals with sold-out performances and headlining slots around the world.

Aside from this, their most recent album, I Am Easy To Find received critical acclaim and their album before that, Sleep Well Beast, won at the 2017 Grammy Awards (Best Alternative Music Album) and went to Number One in the UK, Ireland, Portugal and Canada.

Over their 16-year career, The National have sold more than 1.7 million albums in the U.S. alone.

Bring it on.

Tickets for The National go on sale this Friday at 9am and can be purchased at Ticketmaster.
