‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ to be played at 10.07pm around the world to commemorate Prince

Colm Boohig

“It’s been seven hours and 13 days.”

At 10.07 pm GMT on Wednesday evening, Prince will have passed away exactly seven hours and 13 days ago.

As a result, radio stations globally will play the classic tune, made famous by Sinéad O’Connor, at that time to commemorate the legend.

The idea was conceived by KPMC in Minneapolis – Prince’s hometown – with a spokesperson for the radio station saying:

“We hope that wherever Prince fans are, and whatever radio station they are listening to, they will take a minute to listen and remember his musical genius and artistry.”

Sinéad O’Connor famously changed the first line of her 1990 version to “It’s been seven hours and 15 days” to pay her own personal tribute to the passing of a loved one.
