JOE along with Bulmers bring you a guide to the top five European Music Festivals…

We love a good music festival here in JOE and we are absolutely blessed here in Ireland because we have so many to choose from, almost every weekend of the summer is covered by some sort of gig or festival.

In recent years though, loads of Irish people are going abroad for their festival fix so here’s JOE and Bulmer’s Top Five European Music Festivals.

Ibiza Rocks

Ibiza was known for a long time as one of the best places on the planet for dance music fans, it still is but now it’s also one of the hottest locations for alternative music because of Ibiza Rocks. The festival started back in 2010 and it’s grown massively over the last four years with gig after gig every month with some of the biggest bands and artists in the world. You can get more information on their website.

V Festival

V Festival 2012 - Day 1

V Festival is one of the most established music festivals in Europe at this point as it’s been in existence since 1996. It’s run simultaneously over two days in two different locations, Chelmsford and South Staffordshire, and the artists perform in one location on the Saturday and then they swap over on the Sunday.

It used to be mostly rock but pop has been mixed in recently with this year’s headliners Justin Timberlake and The Killers. You can find more information here.

Glastonbury

The Glastonbury Festival 2013

The mother and father of all festivals in Europe is Glastonbury. JOE have been threatening to go to this since we were about 10 years old and haven’t but we are definitely going next year, definitely…

The line-up is always incredible and this year was no different with Arcade Fire, Metallica and Kasabian headlining. It’s one to tick off the bucket list lads.

Tomorrowland

As you can see from the video above, Tomorrowland is one of the coolest festivals you will ever go to and dance/electronic music lovers in Ireland have been flocking over there in the last few years.

It takes place in the Belgian town of Boom (we want to live there) and it has enough room for 180,000 people which is pretty impressive. This is another one we really want to check off our to-do list. There’s loads more information here.

Pukkelpop

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_X02jsROF-0

Pukkelpop first took place back in 1988 so it’s one of the best run festivals you’ll ever go to, the Belgians know how to do festivals. The thing that makes Pukkelpop stand out is it’s line-up. While it does have big headliner (Disclosure, Ed Sheeran etc this year), it tends to be one that gives new artists and musicians a chance. The full line-up is here so check it out and you’ll find a few gems.
