One Direction bigger than Jesus? Not according to a primary school in Limerick

According to reports today, some parents from Limerick wanted to change the date of their kids’ Holy Communion as it ‘clashed’ with a One Direction concert.

The Beatles said they were bigger than Jesus, but now it looks like One Direction actually are more popular than the big bearded fella who lives in the sky (supposedly).

According to the Limerick Leader, “Three families at the Gaelscoil an Ráithín had requested earlier this week that the date for First Holy Communion in 2014 be changed because it clashed with the concert on May 24.”

So in order to make everyone happy, the school held a ballot to see what the parents thought of changing the dates.

A statement issued by the school read: “The result of that ballot has been overwhelmingly in favour of retaining the original date. Staff, parents and children of Gaelscoil an Ráithín look forward to preparing for this very special celebration next May.”

Eagle eyed punters could have stuck a few quid on the outcome of the ballot as Paddy Power was offering odds of 1/3 for the date to stay the same and 2/1 for the date to be changed.

So it looks like the lads aren’t bigger than Jesus (or Lesus) after all…
