Iconoclastic until the end, his video to Lazarus is now viewed through different eyes.
His music was wallpaper to so many people’s lives, like millions of other families, it means so much to mine. After hearing the news, my dad called me in tears to tell me, ‘it’s the end of an era’ and ‘my youth has evaporated’.
Even though it feels as if the world has chinked out of place, we’re grateful we had him at all.
