JOE’s Song Of The Day #834 – Orla Gartland ‘Did It To Myself’

Dave Hanratty

Orla Gartland Song Of The Day

Fight off those autumn blues.

With the brand new up-tempo sad-banger from the great Orla Gartland.

Hot on the heels of latest EP Why Am I Like This?, the acclaimed Dublin-born, London-based singer-songwriter returns with ‘Did It To Myself’, a track that boasts a huge chorus and highly relatable sentiment.

Taking to Twitter to provide a window into the song’s background, Gartland underscored the singularly painful happening that inspired her to let her guard down.

“This is about my first experience of a properly broken heart,” she wrote.

“I remember it feeling like the most visceral thing and instantly understanding why so many songs have been written about it feels to suddenly be on your own.

“The worst part was I felt sad and heartbroken and shit and had no one to blame but myself! I love that.”
