
Happy Mondays star Paul Ryder dies suddenly, aged 58
Paul Ryder passed away hours before the band were due to play a festival.
Happy Mondays bassist Paul Ryder has died suddenly aged 58.
The musician and brother of Shaun Ryder, was found dead on Friday (15 July) just hours before the band were due to play at Kubix Festival in Sunderland. The circumstances surrounding Paul's death are not yet known.
Shaun, 59, and Paul were the original founders of The Happy Mondays. Ryder had previously been very open about his addiction battles in the early days of the band.
The Happy Mondays paid tribute to Paul with a Facebook post which read: "The Ryder family and Happy Mondays band members are deeply saddened and shocked to say that Paul Ryder passed away this morning.
"A true pioneer and legend. He will be forever missed. We thank you for respecting the privacy of all concerned at this time."
