Ryan Sheridan will play our Sunday Sessions Live 2 gig at Whelan’s on October 22 (free tickets here). The Monaghan man is currently on tour in China and he’s going to give us a tour diary during the trip. 
Day 5
“Another day in Guangzhou, China has just passed. Time seems to go at a different pace here because we are doing and seeing so much.”
“It’s something only some people get to do so I’m very fortunate. It was exciting to be playing a concert for the Mayson factory workers.”
“It’s a way of giving back my appreciation for these amazing guitars built by the people who work for this amazing company.”
“The main man behind our journey is the one and only Alex Wang, master guitar builder and founder of Mayson guitars. His hospitality and kindness towards us is spectacular.”
“He has an innovative mind that is rare and the fact that I get to be here alongside him playing his guitars in his factory is an honour.”
“Busking in Ireland is something that’s very common and people passing by are used to it. In China, the whole sidewalk stops. Actually, nearly the whole street came to a halt!”
“They have so much interest in seeing live music. It even attracted the attention of the police, which was worrying when they told us to stop playing, only to ask us for a photo.”
“This country gets more and more enjoyable every day. We moved indoors to a local pub and started to play again.”
“Thankfully there’s air conditioning to escape the 35 degree dead heat of the Guangzhou night.”
“In fact I’m writing this as I take a break from playing, so maybe it’s time to get back to what I’m here to do.”
“We have a 2000 year old tomb and a natural hot spring to visit tomorrow before heading to Shenzen for the next gig. So, as they say in China, Gan bei!”
