Pic: Bono left a lovely and very Irish gift for Nile Rodgers at Vicar Street this evening

We like to have a little moan about Bono from time to time around these parts but fair dues to him, he was responsible for a lovely gesture towards another giant of the music world a little earlier today.

The legendary producer and guitarist Nile Rodgers, who is most well-known for his involvement with Chic but whose hallmarks are all over some of the most famous tracks of all time, is performing live in Vicar Street this evening and he arrived for a sound-check to a welcoming gift from the U2 frontman.

Rodgers has been in Ireland quite a lot of late and was waxing lyrical about his time here in an appearance on the KC show on Today FM earlier today and it appears as if Bono’s gift further endeared our little country to arguably the funkiest man in the history of music. You’re more than welcome anytime Nile.

We’re sure Rodgers saved a few of Bono’s bottles for after the gig just in case having a few too many would have brought out ‘Le Freak’ in him during his performance tonight.
