PICS: This guy used a genius Wikipedia trick to blag his way into the VIP section of a concert

Conor Heneghan

All the more impressive considering he had a few drinks on board.

We’ve seen from events such as the Superbowl, the Australian Open final and high profile UFC fights that people will try and blag their way into pretty much anything these days, but the latest example is probably the cleverest we’ve heard of yet.

On Friday night, a young man named Adam Boyd went to check out The Sherlocks in the Manchester leg of a UK tour that appears to be going quite well for the Sheffield band at the moment.

While at the gig, he found that his view of the stage was not to his satisfaction and came up with an ingenious way of getting an upgrade to the VIP section. Long shot it may have been, but it paid off in spades.

Despite, as he said on his own Facebook page, being in a drunken state, Boyd went onto the band’s Wikipedia page and edited the ‘Band History’ section to read that their second single, ‘Escapade’ was influenced by vocalist Kieran Crook’s cousin, one Adam Boyd.

It was, of course, complete bullshit, but the security in charge of the VIP section were none the wiser and granted him entry to the VIP section, from where he boasted about his brazenness while watching his fictional cousin and the rest of the band do their thing.

Adam issued another boast about his cheeky accomplishment on his Facebook page and just in case there was any doubt that he actually pulled it off, the revision history section on the band’s Wikipedia page shows that there was indeed edits made to the ‘Band History’ section between 22:21 and 22:43 on Friday night.

We were going to say we wouldn’t condone others copying Adam’s exploits, but no doubt many of you are already plotting doing something similar at an upcoming gig in the near future.

He’s got balls, we’ll give him that.
