Police insist that Prince’s death was not as a result of suicide

The singer was found dead on Thursday at the age of 57.

There is no reason to suspect that Prince’s death at the age of 57 was caused by suicide, police have insisted.

The singer has been mourned the world over since his body was discovered at his Minneapolis recording studio on Thursday.

Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson said there were no signs of trauma on Prince’s body when he was found unresponsive in an elevator at his Paisley Park estate.

“There were no obvious signs of trauma on the body at all,” he said. “We have no reason to believe at this point that this was a suicide.”

Olson refused to comment on whether prescription drugs played any part in Prince’s death.

Celebrity website TMZ reported last week that the legendary musician’s plane had to be diverted to Atlanta, Georgia when he suffered an overdose of Percocet, although this has not been confirmed.
