Rap artist Future has just achieved something never done once in over 60 years of charting music

Rory Cashin

He hasn’t quite made the same level of splash on this side of the pond, but in the States, the Future is now.

There have been over 60 years of Billboard charting music, and for the first time ever, Future managed to achieve back-to-back No.1 debuts with successive albums.

Last week Future was topping the charts with his self-titled fifth album, but this was replaced just one week later with his sixth album HNDRXX.

He is also the first artist in nearly 50 years to replace himself at the top of the charts, with the last example being Simon & Garfunkle back in 1968 when their album Bookends took over from the Graduate soundtrack.

He’s also the first artist since Nelly (remember him?) back in 2004 to hold the No.1 and No.2 spots on the charts, which the Country Grammar rapper managed to do with Suit and Sweat back in the day.

In case you’re interested, here’s one of the cuts from his HNDRXX album, featuring none other than Rihanna.
