Secondary school students in Roscommon are asked to choose their grad song, really bad idea

We want to hear them all.

Even though Green Day are touring in Ireland next summer, we’re fairly certain that the band aren’t strapped for cash.

With twelve studio albums to their name, Billie Joe Armstrong and co. won’t be going hungry anytime soon, but we’re confident in saying that their legacy continues to live on with younger generations because one of their most popular tunes, Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life), will forever be played at graduation ceremonies around the world.

Yep, we get it. It’s meaningful, deep and all of that other clichéd emotional crap that comes with leaving secondary school.

If you’re looking for something that’s a little bit different in a graduation ceremony though, take a look at the suggestions from the students of St. Nathy’s College in Ballaghaderreen, Roscommon.

They created a Facebook page with the aim of finding an appropriate song for this very solemn, diginified and symbolic event.

While we haven’t attended every single graduation ceremony that has taken place in Irish schools, we’re confident in saying that any event which features Darude – Sandstorm or John Cena’s theme tune is grand with us.

Imagine walking out of your graduation ceremony to this? All you need is some commentary from J.R!
