“Is there some young fellow in his bedroom standing in front a mirror with a hairbrush in his hand pretending he’s Johnny Logan, while my precious award sits on his mantelpiece forlorn and bereft of its proper home?”

Irish songwriter, broadcaster and journalist Shay Healy has hit out at the “low down, dirty rotten, low life thug” who stole the trophy he won for penning ‘What’s Another Year’, the winning entry at the 1980 Eurovision Song Contest. The song, as most of you know, was performed by the great Johnny Logan and is probably the most well-known of the many numbers Healy wrote during the course of a long career in the music business. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuHhlGMuIus Clip via senzate81 On Sunday night, Healy, who is fighting a battle with Parkinson’s Disease, took to Facebook to hit out at the person responsible for stealing a trophy that has been in his home for the last 37 years. Healy also used the post to comment on the difficulties posed by working in the music industry these days and at the end, said that he would welcome the return of the trophy with “no questions asked”. You can see the post in full below; fingers crossed Shay has the trophy returned before long.
