Spotify reveal the most streamed artists and songs of 2019 and all of the 2010s

There was no escaping any of these over this last year/decade.

As December continues to plow ahead, another year coming to an end, it also represents the end of the first decade of a new century. There will be a lot of opinions about the best and worst of the last year and/or decade in the run up to the arrival of 2020, but really, one of the best ways to judge the last twelve months/ten years is to see what was the most popular. Spotify have released the details on the most-streamed songs and artists for both the year and the decade, with perhaps some surprises for those not as hugely aware of the international appeal of, say, Bad Bunny. Or the fact that Drake is the most-streamed artist of the entire decade, with a total of 28 billion streams in the last ten years, with 1.7 billion of those streams coming from 'One Dance' alone. But that didn't even top the most-streamed song of the decade, as that title went to Ed Sheeran's 'Shape Of You', which racked up a shocking 2.4 billion streams since it was released in 2017.
