The Cranberries are asking you to “be one of the billion.” They are incredibly close.

Legendary Irish band The Cranberries have urged people to watch the video to their iconic tune ‘Zombie’, as it nears one billion views on YouTube.

That’s right – a billion.

If they are to reach this milestone, they will becoming the first Irish band to reach a billion views on YouTube, which is an incredible achievement given when the song was released.

Each of the 10 most-viewed YouTube videos of all time have been released in the past 10 years, so a song released in 1993 getting over a billion would be quite the achievement.

At the time of writing, the video has 974,338,250 views, meaning they are just over 25 million away from reaching the landmark amount of views.

In a message posted on YouTube, the band said: “Achieving this milestone will make ‘Zombie’ the first ever music video by an Irish band to reach one billion views on YouTube, taking its place in a select group of iconic rock music videos released before 2003 to hit that mark, including Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and Guns N’ Roses’ ‘November Rain’.”
