This week we’re back in the Vintage Room of The Workman’s Club, Dublin with Bridie Monds-Watson a.k.a SOAK.
Hailing from Co. Derry, 18-year-old SOAK has received phenomenal praise for her songwriting ability, earning her comparisons from Laura Marling to Beach House.
SOAK, who has balanced her school life and music since the age of 14, has supported George Ezra, CHVRCHES and completed summer festival slots at Glastonbury, Latitude and Electric Picnic.
SOAK’s distinct honesty, intimacy and a maturity beyond her years, makes her one of the country’s most promising rising stars.
The Derry native performed two absolutely stunning tracks, which may very well be our favourite acoustic performances to date.
‘B A Nobody’ is teenager’s latest single, the first musical offering since being signed to Rough Trade and will be available to purchase from November 3rd.
SOAK also performed ‘Explosions‘ taken from her successful EP Blud that was released earlier in the year.
You can catch SOAK live next month as she takes to Derry’s Christ Church Friday November 7th and Dublin’s Unitarian Church on Saturday November 8th.
Support is from Gabriel Paschal Black and tickets are available from Ticketmaster now. This is one not to be missed.
You can download your digital copy of SOAK’s Blud EP here. For more you can check out SOAK on Facebook, Twitter or soakmusic.net.
The Sunday Sessions promises to bring you special performances and interviews from some of the most exciting emerging talent. Next week we return with some more phenomenal homegrown talent.
