WATCH: Ugandan schoolchildren belt out a Damien Dempsey classic

If you're having a bad day, this will lift your spirits.

Tony Cuddihy

Uganda

This is not something you see every day, and it’ll lift your spirits.

These are the children of Kasengejje Primary School in Uganda, which is not somewhere you’d expect to hear the strains of a song by Damien Dempsey.

However, it turns out the Dublin singer-songwriter has made waves in the African country if this video of schoolchildren belting out ‘Your Pretty Smile’ is anything to go by.

This was sent our way via Bryan Curry and a group called Nurture Africa, an Irish founded NGO and Volunteer Sending Agency focused on empowering vulnerable children and their families in the East African nation.

‘Your Pretty Smile’ first featured on Dempsey’s fourth studio album, titled To Hell or Barbados, in 2007.
