Like the Beatles? Like the Beastie Boys? Then you’ll love this somewhat unorthodox mash-up from American artist DJ BC.

The Beatles and the Beastie Boys don’t have a whole lot in common apart from similar-sounding names and one would think that their contrasting musical styles wouldn’t really lend themselves to a mash-up of any kind.

We would have thought likewise until we stumbled upon Ill Submarine, a mash-up of the Beatles’ ‘Yellow Submarine’ and the Beastie Boys’ ‘Alive’, which, admittedly, takes a while to sink in but works quite well after a few listens.

Those of you with good memories might remember that DJ BC, AKA Bob Cronin, was behind a similar project, ‘The Beastles’ a release which was removed at the insistence of Apple Corps a few years back, but he was inspired to have another go at it in memory of Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys, or MCA, who died in May of last year.

Some will like it, some won’t but if you want to hear more of DJ BC’s work, you can check him out on YouTube here
