Video: Bruce Springsteen brilliantly congratulated the Limerick Hurlers on their Munster hurling title

Somebody better tell John Allen there's a rival Boss in town...

Eoghan Doherty

The American rock and roll legend was playing in Thomond Park last week and, seeing as the Limerick natives were in full-on party mode, he thought it would be a good time to congratulate the senior hurling team on their recent victory over the Rebel County.

He certainly wasn’t wrong.

We’ve already seen the living legend chug pints and receive his very own giant Irish passport last week and, thankfully, Catherine Murphy was on hand yet again to brilliantly capture the congratulations message to The Shannonsiders.

“We would like to congratulate Limerick on the Championship in Munster hurling. I will give it a try right now. We heard all about it. We don’t know what the fuck it is but congratulations!” shouted The Boss, just after launching his guitar into the drum kit and just before launching himself into a great rendition of Glory Days.

And the bonus? The video even features The Sopranos legend Steven Van Zandt prancing around in a giant Leprechaun hat, a moment that would have been worth the admission price alone.

Keep watching right until the very end of the clip too to catch The Boss shaking his ass with his backing singers – just make sure your mammy’s sitting down before she watches the thing though because the man’s still got it…
