When Damon Albarn showed up at Leytonstone pub The Red Lion, he was more than happy to perform an impromptu version of ‘Parklife.’

Teaming up with Cockney covers band The Gents, Albarn – who released his solo album Everyday Robots this week – got into the spirit of things by leading drinkers in a toned down version of Blur’s seminal 1994 hit.

“We were getting ready for a St George’s Day knees-up on Wednesday night when in walked Mr Albarn. He asked what we were up to and said he’d be up for joining in a bit later,” frontman Kristian Cockburn told Mail Online.

He added: “We play daft Cock-er-nee versions of silly pop songs and he was up for getting involved. When he came back to the pub later he joined us for a raucous rendition of Parklife and the whole place kicked off with everyone joining in for the choruses.”
